Everyone’s been through it before, the notorious rising of airfares right before your eyes. You’ve done your search for your trip and found the cheapest flight prices (YAY) however when you check again minutes later, they’ve jumped a few hundred dollars. No, it’s not because the flight has actually gotten more expensive, it’s because the internet is trying to rip you off (or something like that).

There are ways to beat the system though and here are some of our hacks!

Use Skyscanner

First you have to choose a platform that is reliable and trustworthy when it comes to giving you the cheapest rates and airfares. Skyscanner is one of the best!

Clear your cookies/caches

Every time you search something on your computer, the server and computer remembers what you’ve searched – this is why when you search something once, you start seeing ads for them left, right and centre! Clearing your caches and cookies means that your computer won’t recognise that you’ve looked for the exact flight details before and won’t increase the price further!
This can be done in Google Chrome by going to history –> view full history –> clear browsing data –> clearing data from the last day/week/forever

Use a different computer

When clearing cookies doesn’t work you can try using another computer which wouldn’t already have your cookies saved.

Use a different computer at a different place

If using a different computer doesn’t work, try going to another wifi/internet source! A friends house, the cafe down the road, the library… anywhere that isn’t the place that you originally were searching for flight prices. Using a completely new computer also increases your chances of bringing back the original cheap flight price that you found too!

If none of these work, it is safe to say that the internet isn’t playing tricks on you and the flight prices have indeed increased.
