Tasmania is forgotten by so many travellers that visit Australia despite being home to some of the BEST adventures. Hiking, trail running, overland trekking and incredible cliffs and coasts make up Tasmania so for the thrill seekers and nature-lovers, you’d be silly not to visit Tasmania on your trip Down Under. We’ve listed some of the BEST things to do when you get to Tasmania.

1. Three Capes Track

The Three Capes Track is an independent multi-day hike that is 48 km long and takes you through some AMAZING natural landscapes with INCREDIBLE cliff top outlooks on Cape Pillar, Cape Hauy and Cape Raoul. The walk is done in 4 days with nights rested in environmentally sensible cabins along the track- you don’t need to carry tents and heavy things YAY! The track is protected by Tasmania’s Parks and Wildlife Service so only 48 walkers can start each day. Bookings should be made at threecapestrack.com.au/booking it’s worth it!

2. Wineglass Bay, Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park

Wineglass Bay is hidden in Freycinet National Park and is a fun single day adventure that can involve a short walk to the Wineglass Bay lookout or a longer walk to the actual beach of the bay. Alternatively, for the best shot of the bay, climb Mt Amos! It’s a fun, steep and physical walk/climb but worth it for the view! Since it is steep however, it’s best not to do it after it’s rained or in shorts as you will find yourself sliding down granite rocks on the descent! 3.Lake St Clair and Cradle Mountain National Park

Cradle Mountain is extremely fun to visit in all seasons. During winter, enjoy a walk in and amongst snowy grounds and snow peaked caps. During the sunnier months, trying to complete the overland track is something to put on the bucket list. It’s a self-guided and self-sustained multi-day hike that brings out some of the most untouched and other-worldly landscapes that Australia has to offer. It’s a strenuous walk, so it’s recommended for the more experienced/fit hiker. Alternatively, Lake St Clair and Cradle Mountain National Park have TONNES of single day walks and hikes and trails with equally as amazing views and landscapes to encounter. During dusk time, enjoy being greeted by thousands of wombats roaming the paddocks, bushland and footpath right in front of your- it’s definitely a sight to try and see.
