How many countries have you visited?

55+ I think. I honestly can’t keep count- should probably get on Travly and backtrack my trips to see all the places that I’ve been.

What have been your favourite places or experiences and why?

Jordan because of the history and I loved Petra.
Amalfi coast because it was on my bucket list to drive a convertible down that coast.
Leh in the Himalayas- it was indescribable in terms of the scenery and also we were there on an expedition with a good friend who was running non-stop across it- it’s the highest motorable pass in the world and she ran for 60 hours and we were her support crew.

Are you a lightweight traveler or do you like to overpack in case of an emergency?

I used to be lightweight but now I’m packing quite heavy because of all my camera equipment- they can get pretty heavy.

What are 3 things you can’t travel without?

My Leica camera, Hydrolyte because they’re tasty and plenty of white t-shirts.

What country was the biggest shock to you?

South Africa because of how lawless parts of it actually were and Israel because of how carefree and progressive it is. Hong Kong was also surprisingly fun- I almost wrote it off because I thought it was going to be like a boring stopover country.

Hong Kong throwback. One of my fav cities.

What was your first memory of traveling?

When I was about 6, mum and dad took my sister and I around Australia in a caravan- that was pretty awesome and I still have vivid memories of dad doing random building jobs for cash and having to gaffer tape up the whole caravan and it’s caps while driving through the Nullabor.

How many places have you lived?

I grew up in Tasmania and then moved to Victoria when I was about 16 to pursue an athletics career in hurdles, then I lived in the UK and Italy for hurdles again. Most of it was traveling as part of the AUS team, so I didn’t get to see much as a tourist, I was mainly competing and training. I’ve seen a lot of airports and athletics tracks though.

Where is your next destination?

I’m pretty excited to head to Russia in September for the first time, with Sarah.
